DiffMix Laureates Eager to Transform Differdange

The winners of the DiffMix Public Art Contest received their awards in a ceremony in the Hôtel de Ville on 25th of February 2022 from the hands of the mayor of Differdange, Christiane Brassel-Rausch, who expressed her appreciation for their creative ideas to reshape the city with participation of the locals.

Julia Zasada & Jakub Witkowski will be reshaping the Place Jehan Steichen and the Place des Alliés through their two winning ideas, Play and Park and Colours of Differdange, respectively.

Astvaldur Axel Thorisson & Lilo Ming Kiefer will be building Amphitheatre Chiers in the Parc de la Chiers, and are counting on the participation of locals to put wooden pieces together.

Mrs & Mr Garcia will be creating a first kiss environment in Tillebierg by installing dynamic portraits of two Differdange citizens on the walls of the former factory and a Kissing Bench on which you sit and wait for the magic to happen.

Timothy Tan & Marion Delaporte will be lighting up Am Wäschbuer through their Light for a Wash House project.

The artists not only visited the places they are going to reshape over the coming months, but also had a chance to know better Differdange and participate in the opening ceremony of the Esch 2022 European Capital of Culture. Our special thanks go to 1535° Creative Hub Differdange for the informative guided tour, as well as D’Brasserie Schräinerei and De Kesselbetrib for warm coffee and delicious food.
